A Ready For Anything® building block
Carrier-grade outdoor LoRaWAN gateway for critical infrastructure — built to stay in the field for a decade.
The KONA ENTERPRISE Gen2T is TEKTELIC's flagship outdoor gateway. IP67 rated, dual SIM cellular failover, and a 15–20 year MTBF target. Designed for deployments where the gateway going offline is not an option — hospitals, airports, university campuses, industrial sites. Includes mounting brackets and ground cable.
Key Features
- IP67 rated — fully protected against dust and water ingress
- Dual SIM cellular modem — automatic failover if Ethernet drops
- 4-hour internal battery backup — network stays up through a mains outage
- 15–20 year MTBF target — carrier-grade reliability standard
- Integrated cavity filters — blocks 4G/5G interference on urban rooftops
- EU868 frequency band — covers UK, Ireland and all EU territories
- Embedded LNS — BACnet and Modbus output, no middleware required
- KonaFT OAM tool — remote management, firmware updates, diagnostics
- Includes mounting brackets and ground cable
Technical Specifications
Where it fits
🏥
Critical Infrastructure
Hospitals, data centres, and airports where LoRaWAN downtime has operational consequences. IP67 and battery backup handle the unexpected.
🏛️
Outdoor & Rooftop Deployments
IP67 and cavity filters designed for urban rooftops where 4G/5G interference is a real-world problem, not a lab concern.
🏫
Multi-Building Campuses
University campuses and NHS estates — one gateway covering multiple buildings, cellular failover ensuring no coverage gap.
📋
Long-Term FM Contracts
Multi-year service agreements need hardware that doesn't get replaced. MTBF targets and remote firmware updates mean fewer site visits.

Why the KONA ENTERPRISE Gen2T is Ready For Anything®
🟢 Ready for Today
- Embedded LNS (LoRaWAN Network Server) — join management, payload decoding, and uplink routing all happen inside the gateway; no external server, no cloud dependency, no IT conversation about firewall rules on day one
- Native BACnet and Modbus output — Niagara 4 discovers sensors as standard BACnet objects; no custom driver, no middleware, no manual point mapping beyond what you would do with any wired device
- 8 receive channels, Class A/B/C support — handles mixed sensor estates from a single gateway; different reporting intervals, different device classes, one piece of infrastructure
- 4-hour internal battery backup — if mains power drops, the gateway stays up and your sensors keep reporting; your client's BMS does not go blind during a power interruption
- Integrated cavity RF filters — blocks 4G and 5G interference that would otherwise degrade LoRaWAN sensitivity on urban rooftops and plant rooms near cellular equipment
🔵 Ready for Tomorrow
- Dual SIM cellular failover — if the Ethernet backhaul drops, the gateway automatically switches to cellular; no manual intervention, no gap in sensor reporting, no site visit required
- 15–20 year MTBF design target — carrier-grade hardware lifecycle; you are not replacing this gateway in three years because the manufacturer discontinued the product line
- OTA firmware updates via KonaFT OAM tool — apply security patches, add sensor profiles, and update configuration remotely; no ladder, no site visit, no maintenance window booked months in advance
- Scalable sensor estate — start with 20 sensors, grow to 500; the ENTERPRISE handles high-density deployments across large floor plates, campuses, and multi-building sites without gateway replacement
- IP67 rated — fully sealed against dust and water ingress; suitable for plant rooms, rooftop installations, and outdoor deployments in UK weather
🔐 Ready for Security
- AES-128 end-to-end encryption — network and application layer encryption as standard; sensor data in transit is encrypted without any configuration required on your part
- Local LNS removes cloud exposure — sensor data never leaves the building unless you route it there; removes a class of risk for clients with data governance requirements or public sector procurement rules
- Government and education procurement compliant — TEKTELIC's carrier-grade supply chain, long hardware lifecycle, and documented security posture satisfy formal evaluation criteria that consumer IoT hardware cannot meet
- Access control and firewall management via KonaFT — lock down management access, monitor system health, and manage radio configuration from a single tool
🔗 Ready for Integrations
- BACnet IP and Modbus TCP native output — Niagara 4, J2 Innovations FIN, and any BACnet-compliant supervisor reads sensor data directly; no translation layer, no third-party driver purchase
- Multi-vendor sensor support — pairs with Milesight, MClimate, Enless, or TEKTELIC sensors; all from one INNON conversation, one purchase order, one commissioning path
- REST API available alongside BACnet/Modbus — for cloud dashboard integration, energy management platforms, or any application that needs HTTP access to sensor data
- INNON-documented integration — we have commissioned this gateway stack in Niagara 4; we know where the friction is and we document every step at know.innon.com
Who specifies the ENTERPRISE over the MICRO
The MICRO is the right choice for most indoor BMS deployments — one floor, one building, indoor sensors, Ethernet backhaul available. The ENTERPRISE is specified when the project has one or more of the following:
- Outdoor sensor deployment or rooftop gateway location
- No reliable Ethernet run to the plant room — cellular backhaul required
- High sensor density across multiple floors or buildings
- Client has formal uptime or resilience requirements — hospital, airport, university campus, data centre
- Public sector or government procurement with supply chain longevity criteria
If you are unsure which gateway fits your project, contact us. We have done both deployments and can give you a straight answer.
