MClimate 16A Dry Switch LoRaWAN

A Ready For Anything® building block for Niagara-based, LoRaWAN underfloor heating control and any On/Off-Based logic

Retrofit-friendly load switching — built for real buildings.

The MClimate 16A Dry Switch LoRaWAN® is a miniature device featuring a dry 16A relay, designed to fit behind most wall switches and outlets so you can automate electrical loads quickly and cleanly in retrofit buildings.

The problem this product exists to solve

In many buildings, controlling electrical loads at the right level (room, zone, or equipment) is difficult because the switching infrastructure wasn’t designed for automation.

This leads to heating circuits, fans, lights, and equipment running when they’re not needed — creating wasted energy, unnecessary wear, and operational frustration after handover.

The issue we are trying to solve is making switching practical for deployment at scale without creating a fragile system that is hard to maintain.

When this is addressed properly, building control becomes easier to operate, easier to maintain, and far more resilient over time.

Niagara Integration (Innon Support)

For Niagara-based systems, MClimate 16A Dry Switch LoRaWAN can be integrated using Innon’s LoRaWAN driver for Niagara, exposing relay state and switching commands cleanly as native Niagara points.

  • Consistent point models across loads and sites
  • Repeatable deployment without fragile middleware
  • Cleaner handover and easier long-term operation

Why this product is Ready For Anything®

Ready for Today

  • Miniature form factor designed to fit behind most wall switches and outlets
  • Dry 16A relay for straightforward on/off switching
  • Simple wiring model using 4 terminals: L, N, I, O (connects/disconnects I from O)
  • Suitable for practical retrofit automation where fast installation matters

Ready for Tomorrow

  • LoRaWAN® Class C operation supports faster command responsiveness than sleep-only devices
  • Firmware Upgrade Over The Air (FUOTA) supports long lifecycle deployments
  • Designed for staged rollouts where requirements evolve over time

Ready for Security

  • Internal temperature sensor with overheating protection
  • LoRaWAN® end-to-end encryption (AES-CTR)
  • Reduces reliance on exposed local IP switching infrastructure in retrofit projects

Ready for Integration

  • Open LoRaWAN® protocol (LoRaWAN® 1.0.3)
  • Compatible with multi-vendor BMS and IoT architectures via LoRaWAN
  • Supported via Innon’s LoRaWAN driver for Niagara

What makes this product different

Many switching retrofits fail because devices are too bulky for real installations, too slow to respond, or too fragile to maintain.

  • Retrofit-first size: compact enough (32 × 36 × 18 mm) to fit behind most switches and outlets.
  • Fast, responsive control: LoRaWAN Class C for quicker command handling.
  • Built-in protection: an internal temperature sensor and overheating protection to reduce the risk of long-term operation.
  • Upgrade path: FUOTA enables improvements without hardware replacement.
  • Flexible switching: dry contact relay supports a wide range of control and automation scenarios.

Typical applications (where load switching delivers real value)

Electrical load switching is most valuable where behaviour is unpredictable, energy waste is common, or uptime matters.

  • Underfloor heating (electric): zone switching and out-of-hours shutdown strategies (particularly where heating is controlled via a contactor or enable input).
  • Hydronic underfloor heating: enable/disable zone actuators or provide run permission signals.
  • Electric heaters/convectors: prevent overnight run-on and reduce wasted energy.
  • Lighting circuits (targeted zones): back-of-house areas, storage rooms, plant spaces, corridors.
  • Extract fans: avoid unnecessary 24/7 runtime in toilets, kitchens, and plant rooms.
  • Small pumps (selected circuits): runtime control where full BMS upgrades aren’t practical.
  • Hospitality / residential loads: enable/disable non-essential loads based on schedules or occupancy logic.

How does this fit into a Ready For Anything® underfloor heating solution

On its own, MC-LW-16ADS-01 provides reliable, voltage-free switching for underfloor heating systems controlled via contactors, actuators, or enable inputs.

When integrated into a Niagara-based LoRaWAN architecture, it becomes part of a Ready For Anything® underfloor heating solution — designed for real buildings, changing usage, and long-term operation.

In a typical RFA setup:

  • The MClimate 16A Dry Switch LoRaWAN provides dependable on/off control of underfloor heating zones.
  • LoRaWAN temperature sensors or thermostats provide room-level feedback.
  • Niagara applies schedules, occupancy logic, and optimisation rules in a way that remains maintainable after handover.
  • Heating is enabled only when it is genuinely needed, not just when a schedule says so.

This approach avoids hard-coded logic, fragile wiring assumptions, and systems that become difficult to operate after commissioning.

Because the dry switch is LoRaWAN-enabled and integrated via Niagara, the solution can:

  • Adapt as spaces are repurposed or occupancy patterns change.
  • Support staged rollouts and future extensions without redesign.
  • Be maintained and evolved without ripping out infrastructure.

This is what makes MC-LW-16ADS-01 more than a relay — it becomes a system-ready building block for scalable, maintainable underfloor heating control.

From good systems to great outcomes

Many buildings can automate at the top level but struggle to act where the waste happens — at the load.

Used properly, MC-LW-16ADS-01 enables:

  • Cleaner control strategies at the point of use
  • Reduced wasted energy and unnecessary runtime
  • Less manual intervention after handover
  • More scalable retrofit automation across rooms and sites
